Passion Sunday

The reading of the Passion Narrative according to St. Matthew highlighted the April 13 worship at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Karnes City. This narrative is the heart and soul of Christian faith. While the reading is long, it is important that the whole story be heard, so that one does not skip from triumphal entry to empty tomb without all of the messy, gory details in between. Very seldom does life skip from glory to glory. Our God is with us in the midst of this life’s suffering and death (as well as its joys and triumphs). Our God calls us to be imitators of Christ, emptying ourselves in obedient service and entering willingly into the suffering of the world. Christ’s passion becomes our passion.
